SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Sioux City Bandits are less than two months away from kicking off their inaugural season in the newly formed Champions Professional Indoor Football League.
Still trying to add a few pieces to the puzzle, the Bandits held their final tryout at the Tyson Events Center on Sunday.
Sioux City has 25 players returning from last season's championship squad and signed eight new players in their first tryout back in December.
The Bandits are hoping to sign 10 to 15 more players on Sunday, before cutting down their roster to 35 before the season begins.
"Especially with the championship being won the past two years and bringing a core group of guys back - I think we've done that," Head Coach Erv Strohbeen said. "And so, what you do is you try to add to that with guys that we lost, try to upgrade some of the roster spots that we think are lacking heading into this league. And, hopefully we can address those concerns."
The Bandits open the season March 15 against Bloomington.
