X's pitchers Salazar & Schumacher to play for Spain in World Baseball Classic

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The third World Baseball Classic begins March 2 and two Explorers will be playing for Spain.

Pitchers Richard Salazar and Nick Schumacher are two of 10 current and former American Association players to be participating this year.

Salazar went 8-7 last season with the X's with a 4.07 ERA.

Schumacher finished with a 5-8 mark, and had an ERA of 5.56.

It's Spain's first appearance in the WBC.
