Former jail employee jailed for theft

A former Dakota County Nebraska jail employee is accused of stealing money from an inmate. 

Mason Billings is charged with one count of theft.  According to court documents, the 44-year-old is accused of stealing $400 dollars from the inmate last September.  Billings admitted to taking the money, according to the court papers, and later sent a letter to the Dakota County jail director with two money orders totaling $400. 

Billings was arrested Friday and is being held at the Dakota County jail.
