DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
A Dubuque man is dead following a Wednesday morning car crash. It happened around 8:30 on US Highway 151/61 just north of the Catfish Creek bridge. Snow was falling at that time.
According to police, a vehicle traveling southbound apparently lost control and crossed the median into northbound lanes, where another vehicle hit it.
The crash killed the southbound driver, 65-year-old Michael Maher, of Dubuque, who died at the scene. A passenger in that vehicle, 61-year-old Donald Krier, also of Dubuque, was injured. Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque treated Krier for injuries and then sent him via helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. As of Wednesday evening, police had no information on Krier's condition.
33-year-old Rachael Fitzpatrick was the driver of the northbound vehicle. Two of her children, ages two and four, were also with her. All three went to Mercy Medical Center, where they were treated and released.
