Iowa DOT will now issue licenses to young immigrants

The Iowa Department of Transportation says it will now issue driver's licenses or IDs to non-citizens who qualify for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Status.

President Barack Obama announced the policy change in June, which would allow immigrants who were brought here as children to get their licenses without worries of deportation.

However in December the Iowa DOT refused, claiming that Iowa's law wouldn't allow it.

Wednesday the Iowa DOT changed its stance again, saying that these licenses are authorized by the Department of Homeland Security.
