Wynot is 16-2 on the season.
WYNOT, Nebraska (KTIV) -
The two-time defending Class D2 Champions, the Wynot girls basketball team is 16-2 and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Led by 8 seniors, the Blue Devils are currently ranked second in the Nebraska D2 ratings.
The squad is averaging 61 points per game and has only allowed an opponent to score 50 or more points twice all season.
Winners of eight straight, and fresh off a victory over Hartington Cedar Catholic, Wynot is eying a fourth consecutive berth to the state tournament and third straight title.
"We are all very, very excited to get to the end of the season. It's sad sometimes, because we're never going to get this time back." senior Kelsie Higgins said. "So, we're just going to take every moment, grab it and go with it."
"Being back-to-back champions, there is a lot of pressure on us now, but we don't let that get to us," senior Samantha Wieseler added. "It's just our main goal. We want to be that three-peat team. We want to work hard for it and we want to be there. That's our goal."
Wynot will play either Hartington or Wausa in the second round of the Lewis and Clark Conference tournament on Tuesday.
