Woodbury County insurance costs expected to go down

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Health insurance costs are projected to go down for Woodbury County.

The county's employee benefits consultant, Gallagher Benefits Services, has recommended a 3 percent reduction in their health insurance budget.

That's a savings of $430,000 to local tax payers.

Gallagher's also suggested giving county employees a one month premium holiday.

The consultant says the Wellness program that was adopted in 2010 has cut down on claims.

Sixty-seven percent of county employees participate.
