SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
MidAmerican Energy is going green.
The company has installed 160 solar panels on the rooftop of its downtown Sioux City building.
The panels replace an air-to-air solar system that heated the building and water.
Each panel can produce up to 235 watts to provide electricity for the building.
MidAmerican will be using a web-based software to monitor the systems performance.
The solar panels will reduce the amount of carbon output that is similar to planting 78 trees.
