SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Super Bowl Sunday is not just about the football. It's about the food. On this week's Centsable Health, Fareway registered dietitian Whitney Packebush is sharing some great party ideas.
USA Today reported that the average Super Bowl viewer eats almost 2,000 calories during the game! It would take 3 hours running at 6 MPH to burn that off!
32% of viewers like dips and spreads the best. So here are some ways to save calories on those dips and spreads.
Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
Replace regular Ranch dressing by combining Greek yogurt and a Ranch seasoning packet.
Use fat free or low fat options whenever possible.
The buffalo chicken dip recipe in this segment has 73% less fat than traditional with only 96 calories per ¼ cup.
Some good advice when you're attending a party is to scan the table before you fill your plate.
Indulge in dishes that you can only have on special occasions.
Offer to bring a dish to the party, so you can control ingredients.
Don't go to the party hungry or "save up" your calories. And, be aware of liquid calories.
