Jacqui Kalin has been selected as the Outstanding Female Jewish Scholar Athlete of the Year.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- -
Jacqui Kalin has been selected as the 2013 Marty Glickman Outstanding Female Jewish Scholar Athlete of the Year by the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum Committee.
"I am truly humbled and honored to be the recipient of this award," Kalin said. "I am thankful for the Committee's interest and selection for the away, as being awarded for accomplishments as a Jewish scholar-athlete means a lot to me. I look forward to attending the ceremony and the opportunity to see the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum."
The award will be presented to Kalin at the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum Induction Ceremony on April 21, 2013. The ceremony will take place at the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center.
Kalin has scored 344 points so far this season and is now in second place at UNI in career scoring with 1,763 and is only 88 points shy of being the all-time leading scorer in UNI history. She has scored 20-plus points in nine games this season, including a season high 28 points against North Carolina State.
Kalin returned this season after redshirting during the 2011-12 season due to suffering a season ending ACL injury before the season started. She was named the Jackie Stiles Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for the 2010-11 season, first team All-MVC and MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
"Jacqui Kalin is an outstanding example of a scholar-athlete," said Lynne A. Kramer, Hall of Fame Chairman. "We are so glad she will be joining the Hall of Fame Class of 2013."
