Brutal wind and cold temps create dangerous conditions

Forecasts call for a bitterly cold Thursday morning in Siouxland.  With temperatures around zero and wind chill factors around 20 below, doctors say you need to be prepared to avoid harm.  With these conditions, your skin can freeze in about half an hour.  Besides frostbite, hypothermia is a concern and doctors say it can sneak up on you quickly, so limit your exposure to these bitterly cold conditions.

Macy, Neb. under boil order

Students are set to return to class Thursday at Omaha Nation Public School in Macy, Nebraska.  School officials canceled classes Tuesday and Wednesday because of a water main break in town, according to the school's Facebook page.  Customers on the Omaha Tribe water system have been under a boil order since Monday.

Woman honored for supporting employees in the military

A supervisor at Stream Global Services is being recognized for supporting the military.  Megan Thornburg was honored with the Patriot Award because of her support for co-worker Phlip Lyon, who serves in the National Guard and Reserve.  Lyon nominated Thornburg for the award, saying he appreciates the way she accommodates his military duties and balances those with his job duties.
