A company founded in the Iowa Great Lakes has decided to move part of its business to Kansas City.
Officials with Jarden Corporation, parent company of Pure Fishing, have announced plans to move Pure Fishing's distribution operations from its manufacturing plant in Spirit Lake to a warehouse in Kansas City.
The company plans to make the transition in the second half of this year. Company officials say the move will affect 36 coworkers in Spirit Lake, or about 10% of its workforce here.
They say the positions should be absorbed in the manufacturing operations here, which they say are continuing to grow.
Pure Fishing's warehouse was relocated to Kansas City and its headquarters staff was moved to Columbia, South Carolina shortly after it was acquired by Jarden.
