SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A Sioux City college scored a big win this week.
Tuesday, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation handed St. Luke's College a 2013 Award for Outstanding Institutional Practice in Student Learning Outcomes.
St. Luke's was one of four institutions to win the national accolade this year. It was created in 2005 to acknowledge "institutions that have been exceptional in developing and applying evidence of student learning outcomes to improve higher education quality and accountability."
St. Luke's officials say a big factor in their win was a three-year average showing more than 94% of their graduates pass registry examinations on the first attempt. "We've always known we have an excellent product, but to have the Council for Higher Education also affirm that, it's a very great feeling. I'm sure students around Siouxland will see this and gravitate towards our campus," said St. Luke's Executive Dean Richard Ayi.
St. Luke's College features education programs in nursing, radiology and more. They have 210 students enrolled.
