NORFOLK, Neb (KTIV/US92) -
An event planned for Friday will combine formal wear with sports wear. And, it's all for a good cause.
Members of the Norfolk chapter of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women are holding the first-ever "Red Dress Dash" in Norfolk Friday evening.
Organizers say participants will don their best red dress and then do a one-mile "dash" through downtown Norfolk. Organizers say the idea is to raise awareness and help dispel some of the myths regarding heart disease. Sara Brown, American Heart Association, says, "Heart disease is women's number one killer. Traditionally we think of heart disease as an old man's disease, but that's just simply not true."
Organizers say participants can register at 4:30 Friday afternoon at J's Steakhouse in Norfolk. They add that men are more than welcome to take part, but they'll have to wear red dresses as well.
