How to throw together your Super Bowl party

It takes a little bit of work to get your party ready for the Super Bowl. It takes a little bit of work to get your party ready for the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLVII is Sunday night in New Orleans.

It rates right below Thanksgiving, in terms of food consumed during the day. So, how do you get ready, if you're running a little behind on those game day plans?

"You've got to wow them with the homemade," said Metz. "Throw in your own mix of this, that and the other."

With the salsa in the fold, you turn your attention toward the quest for the perfect chip.

"Just something to dip with, something easy and delicious," said Metz.

Plus, you can get enough finger foods, so folks can work throughout the game.

"Easy to eat and fun, everybody likes meatballs, everybody likes brats," said Metz. "You always have that special guest that's going to come over, little shrimp little sauce."

But some things need to stand out, like the television set.

"I think you need that 52 inch TV, but it's all about the food. You want to see the game, but it's all about the food and the fun," said Metz.

And how many guests to consume all that?

"Six, eight, 10 is a good number to have. You get to 15 or 20, and you start losing track of people," said Metz.

Then, look for drinks.

"You have to have some adult beverages, so that everybody sticks around your house. If you want to have a dry party, you better have plenty of soda and water," said Metz.

Should you neglect the pizza and wings? Absolutely not.

"Oh, pizza and wings is the No. 1 staple. You have to have pizza, you have to have wings," said Metz.

So, what about when the game's over, when do you tell the guests to leave?

"After an hour or so, you probably need to get rid of them, because it will be late into the evening, and it's time for you to call it a day," said Metz.
