According to an investigation by Consumer Reports, there's currently about one-billion dollars in life insurance benefits still waiting to be claimed by beneficiaries.

Some people buy life insurance and don't tell their beneficiaries about it.

But Consumer Reports is pointing blame at the insurance industry.

That's because when a policy holder dies, an insurance company doesn't always go looking for the beneficiaries.
