SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Voters in eight western Iowa counties have approved a levy to pay for new equipment at Western Iowa Tech Community College.
The levy passed in each of the counties it was on the ballot in.
The vote totals show nearly 2,790 people supported the levy, while 1,052 opposed it.
WIT president Terry Murrell has said that without the levy, students might be left with equipment that they may not see in the field, which may not give them the skills they need.
For each dollar paid in property taxes, a taxpayer gives one-sixth of a penny towards the levy tax.
