Northern Iowa football coach Mark Farley hit Sioux City hard. The Panthers picked up offensive lineman Jon McReynolds from East.

McReynolds was a first team all-state pick and a team captain. He likes the fact that several Northwest Iowa players will play in the UNI-Dome.

"I actually went up against Zach Skibinski (Heelan) in the football game, thinking there would be tension but when we went up but we hit it off right away. He's a great guy," said McReynolds. "I'm glad to be going there with those two guys. It makes Sioux City look better that we have so many dominant football players going to one place."

East had one other NCAA division-one recruit. Trey Lapke will play baseball at South Dakota State.

He's been the Black Raiders starting catcher since his freshman season and has hit .333, .350, and .361 the past three summers.

"It's the real deal," said Lapke. "They're a good program and they're getting bigger. The school is just continually growing. I see a lot of opportunity there."

Other East football recruits include Marcel Dunson, who's going to Wayne State. Dunson had 72 catches for 13 touchdowns last year.

Jake McDonald is also going to Wayne State.  McDonald is a defensive back with 153 career tackles.

Wayne State also signed South Sioux City wide receiver Nate Rogers. He set South Sioux's all-time record with 55 catches, for over 1,100 yards and 17touchdowns last season.

Other East signees include Dom Thompson-Williams will play football and baseball at Iowa Western Community College, which won national titles in both sports.  He had 21 TD's and over 2,000 yards receiving at East.

Harlee Bauman will play basketball at Concordia in Nebraska.

Deianira Felts will play soccer at Dordt and Amy Grause will play soccer at Morningside.
