Northeast College begins partnership with school in Denmark

A Siouxland college is going global for the second time in five months.

Administrators of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska gathered Thursday morning via video conference with representatives from Aarhus Business College in Denmark. The two schools have signed a memorandum of understanding that school officials say will allow for both schools to participate in an exchange program for both students and teachers.

The memorandum signed Thursday is the culmination of discussions the two schools have had over the past few months. Officials from Aarhus visited Norfolk in December to discuss the partnership and the programs of study that would be involved. This is the second agreement of this type Northeast has signed with an oversees school in the past few months, as they signed a memorandum with the North Lindsey College of England back in October.

Broadcasting will be of particular interest in this agreement. The college in Denmark just started a student-run TV station over there and they and Northeast will be putting together news stories and exchanging them via the Internet. School officials say they're also looking at business and renewable energy programs as part of the exchange as well.
