South Sioux City, NE pays back thousands to local school district
South Sioux City, Nebraska had to pay back nearly $416,000 to the South Sioux City Community School District. That's because the district had been over billed on their electricity for the past four years.
South Sioux City administrator Lance Hedquist said it realized the problem about six months ago while working on the air conditioning system. He says the city had been inadvertently been reading both the main and sub-meter.
The cost to the school was more than $100,000 each year.
The city had to pay back the money because it is the administrator for Nebraska Public Power District.
