Iowa State has four football recruits already on campus in Ames.
AMES, Iowa (KTIV) - -
Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads brought in 25 players for his fifth recruiting class. The new players come from eight different states. Four of those recruits are already on campus.
They are junior college transfers, running back Aaron Wimberly and tight end Emmanuel Bibbs.
Freshman already in school are linebacker Alton Meeks and offensive lineman Shawn Curtis of Florida, who is a rated as a top-25 player at his position in the country.
Iowa State also signed the top recruit in Iowa, offensive lineman Jake Campos of West Des Moines Valley, plus the number-4 in-state recruit, Ankeny quarterback Joel Lanning who led his team to a Class 4A state title.
"We've got All-Americans, we've got all-staters, and we have a class president, a 4-point-0 student, and a student of the year in this class," said Rhoads. "Thirteen members on the offensive side of the ball, twelve members on the defensive side of the ball and every position group represented. It's this balance that continues to add to the growth of this program."
"Everyone's got players in front of you," said Meeks. "I just got here so I'm just trying to come in and if I can get in the film room with any of the older guys, if they're around, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to take every advantage to learn from the guys that are here."
Rivals.com says Iowa State's class ranks 58th in the country and ninth in the Big 12.
