City signs off on Liberty Park/I-29 agreement

Sioux City and Woodbury County are back on the same page.

With a vote by the council Monday night, both have signed off on a memorandum of understanding over future development.

Past attempts to do the same have failed.

Now, the city has agreed to support the county's new industrial park and the county says they will help pay for a study to build a second interchange near the city's own industrial park.

However, just like in the past, the memorandum is non-binding.

"Our next step will probably be a 28-E agreement or development agreement that will be binding," said Woodbury County Supervisor Jackie Smith.

That agreement will formalize the share each group will pay for the new interchange study.
