Senior Jacqui Kalin became Northern Iowa's all-time leading scorer over the weekend.
CEDAR FALLS, IA (KTIV) -
Northern Iowa senior Jacqui Kalin has been named the Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball player of the week for the fifth time this season.
The Sioux City North graduate became became UNI's all-time leading scorer with 20 points against Wichita State, which was the 13th time this season she's gone over the 20-point mark. Kalin followed that up with a career-high 37 points in an 82-78 win over Missouri State.
She now has 1,868 career points and she's also second on the Panthers all-time assist chart. All this after coming off a severe knee injury that cost her all of last season.
"That's what makes her comeback so impressive," said Northern Iowa head coach Tanya Warren. "Because coming off of an ACL, her and Adrian Peterson from the Vikings are the only two that I've ever, ever seen come back and play the following year and have the year that they're having. I thought coming off the injury, she would not take it to the rim as much. But she can take it to the rim, she shoots the dribble jump shot extremely well, she shoots the three with range and then she's leading the country in free throw percentage."
Kalin and the Panthers will host Bradley on Saturday at 2 o'clock in Cedar Falls.
