It started as simply a photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse at the end of World War II in 1945, and now a statue depicting what may just be the most famous kiss in U.S. history has a new home in California. 

After a 2,800 mile trip that began in New Jersey, the newly cast bronze statue of the salient smooch arrived in San Diego Monday morning.  The 25 foot tall, 15,000 pound piece of art cost one-million dollars to make and replaces a form-core version.
