Sioux City delegation enjoys Mardi Gras festivities in "sister city"

LAKE CHARLES, Louis. (KPLC) -

Lent means local folks make the trip to Sioux City's sister city for some Mardi Gras fun.

They do this every year. Sioux City's delegation heads to Lake Charles, Louisiana, to take part in the Mardi Gras festivities. Rhonda Capron, City Council Member says, "Oh my goodness... I love it, you know. This is really truly our "sister city" because I tell ya we have so much in common. I really feel like I'm coming home to family I've never met yet so they've been just wonderful."

The Sioux City delegation took part in the annual "Block Party and Parade." One member says his only problem with taking part is eating too much great food!

The Lake Charles delegation comes to Sioux City, each year, to take part in the "Saturday in the Park" festivities held over the Fourth of July.
