UNDATED (KTIV) -
Siouxland lawmakers also weighed in on tonight's speech.
Senator Tim Johnson, of South Dakota, said the President's "focus on jobs and the middle class provides leadership to take our country in the right direction."
He was pleased to see the president stress clean and renewable energy in his energy policy. But, Johnson, a Democrat, was disappointed that the President did not mention the farm bill.
Johnson's Republican counterpart in the Senate, John Thune, said he was struck by the fact that, quote "we really need to see not the rhetoric, but the action." Thune says, too often, the president has said some of the right things, but "unfortunately doesn't follow up when it comes time to getting the job done."
