SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
She's the apple of your eye, your little princess.
It's not every night that dads get to take their daughters out on a date with just the two of them. But Tuesday, Sioux City dads did just that.
From the day she was born, she had you wrapped around her little finger.
"He says that I'm he Belle of the ball," nine-year-old Kaitlyn George said.
Time moves quickly. These daddy daughter moments go by in a flash. Just ask Specialist Troy Risdal, who spent time on deployment.
"You don't realize it until you're away from them how all these little moments you can't get back," Risdal said.
Which makes nights like this all the more special.
"This is just one thing that's her and me," said Ken Ritz of daughter Ellie.
"I love taking her to this," added Tim Hall.
When asked about her special night, Maddie Hall replied, "This is really fun."
Another father, Matt Kann, said, "Three years ago she was up to my hip and now she's up to my shoulder."
Tuesday night, the Long Lines Family Center was filled with the sparkle and smiles of lots of little ladies with their number one guy by their side.
When asked what makes the night special, these little ladies all had a similar answer.
"My dad," said Katie Kann, 8.
Sydney Price, 10, agreed, "My dad."
The girls were also asked why their dads were so special to them.
Noelia Jacobson, 11, said "He takes care of me."
"He does nice things," added Ella Rawdon, 5.
Kaitlyn George, 9, agreed, "My favorite part is spending time with my dad."
Samantha Barendt, 8, "My dad, he's not much of a dancer at all, but I'm glad I got him to slip here and slip on a tuxedo."
At 22, Courtney Black was one of the oldest in the crowd wearing a crown, but she wouldn't miss the chance to spend the night dancing in the arms of her uncle, who's been like a father to her for many years.
"He means the world," she said.
We know how this fairy tale ends. You have to make the most of nights like this. Because these princesses will someday find their prince.
"Yeah, I don't want to think about that," said Matt Kann.
When asked about his daughters, Eric Rawdon, said, "I'm not going to let them date until they're 30."
But, on this night they're happy, just being daddy's little girl.
