Chefs made enough friend rice to feed a very large and very hungry crowd.
In Costa Rica, chefs celebrated the start of Chinese New Year by making some fried rice.
They made enough to feed a very large and very hungry crowd. Fifty-two chefs from 35 San Jose restaurants worked for more than six hours to make more than 1.4 tons of fried rice. Cooks had to use shovels to mix everything together.
An official from Guinness World Records handed a certificate to one of the organizers when the pot of fried rice was declared a record setter. Costa Rica and China re-established relations in 2007 and just last year San Jose debuted a Chinatown in the city.
