UPDATE: Sentencing postponed in NE hate crime hoax case

Posted:
LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) -

Sentencing has been delayed for a former University of Nebraska women's basketball star who pleaded "no-contest" to faking an anti-gay hate crime.  34-year-old Charlie Rogers was set to be sentenced Thursday morning in Lincoln, but the judge rescheduled the hearing to March 14th.

Rogers, a native of South Sioux City, was charged after she claimed she was attacked by three men who carved anti-gay slurs into her arms and stomach.  She maintains her innocence, but her attorney has said she didn't want a court fight and more of the publicity that her case has generated.

Rogers could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
