NEAR SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KTIV) -
A move to create a new state park at the Blood Run nature area along the Big Sioux River, clears a hurdle in the South Dakota legislature.
The state senate approved Governor Dennis Daugaard's proposal to designate the 600-acre site as South Dakota's 13th state park called The Good Earth State Park.
Blood Run, southeast of Sioux Falls on the Iowa border, was designated a national historic landmark in 1970.
It was used by thousands of Oneota Indians into the early 1700's.
The measure now goes to the house for debate.
