SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Beginning Tuesday, a strong upper low pressure system will dig into the southwestern U.S. and move into the upper Midwest by Wednesday evening.

Cold temperatures and ample Gulf moisture will lead to snow in the tri-state area.

Snow will likely start in the southwestern parts of Siouxland on Wednesday night and move north and east leaving Thursday to be the main snow event.

Significant accumulations are possible with this system accompanied with gusty winds resulting in blowing and drifting of snow.
