SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Sioux City City Council voted to cut position of the fire department's media spokesperson.
The council voted four to one to eliminate the job. Council member Rhonda Capron cast the lone vote to keep the position.
During the discussion of the vote, Mayor Bob Scott said "the media can wait" in emergencies.
The fire department will now have to absorb the full time position and share the duties throughout the department.
Council members are also looking at the police department's budget.
We'll have more on these budget decisions, coming up on News Four.
