Land owner hopes to annex land into Sioux City, build homes

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

One man hopes to annex three acres of land into the Sioux City city limits, so he can build property.

John Dolphin owns land in the Sunnybrook neighborhood, which sits outside city limits, right now. The land on the 7000 block of Christy Road is considered a part of Woodbury County, but Dolphin has seeded and graded the land, and added utilities, to the lots.

He hopes the city council will approve his petition to the city to annex the land. If council approves the annexation on Monday night, Dolphin would gain access to city utilities, and then be able to continue building the property.

City leaders say there's a good chance Dolphin will get approval for the project.
