Council is set to give final approval to Sioux City's operating and capital improvement budget

Monday night's vote comes after several weeks of hearings and efforts by departments to trim spending for the next fiscal year.

Council members will vote on a spending plan that includes a $45 increase in property taxes for the average homeowner.

There would also be a few positions cut, including a police sergeant and the fire department's public education officer.
