Chase Foote of Dickens, IA is now charged with 2nd Degree Murder in the beating death of Jefferson Wilbur of Spencer
SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -
A northwest Iowa man now faces a murder charge in the death of a Spencer man who died of injuries suffered in a beating last September. 23-year old Chase Foote of Dickens is charged with 2nd Degree Murder in the death of 44-year old Jefferson Wilbur.
Police found Wilbur beaten and unresponsive in a Spencer alley last September 2nd. Police say Foote and Wilbur had been involved in an altercation. Wilbur suffered several facial fractures and a severe head injury. He was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital, where he died on November 18th.
Foote was initially charged with Willful Injury. The charge was increased to 2nd Degree Murder as a result of the autopsy report from the state medical examiner.
Foote turned himself in to Spencer police and was taken to the Clay County Jail.
