Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel's first day in his new job
Defense Secretary by Michael L. Rhodes, the Defense Department's director of administration and management, as Hagel's wife, Lilibet, holds a Bible at the Pentagon.
Hagel talked with service members and civilian employees at the Pentagon, saying he's proud to be joining their team and that he will always be honest with them.
You'll always know that you have a Secretary of Defense that will deal straight with you. I'll be honest. I'll be direct. I'll expect the same from you. I'll never ask anyone to do anything I wouldn't do. I will never ask anybody to do more than I wouldn't do. That's the story of your lives. I wouldn't be worthy if that was not the case. Again, thank you for this tremendous opportunity. I, I am very proud to be on your team. Now, I gotta go to work," Chuck Hagel, Secretary of Defense said.
Hagel's swearing in Wednesday came after a long nomination battle, which just ended Tuesday.
