West High activities director resigns after drunk driving arrest

The West High School Activities Director has resigned after being charged with drunk driving.

Early on the morning of January 20th, an Iowa State Patrol trooper stopped 47-year-old Dale Veatch for a headlight that was out.

In court paperwork, the trooper said Veatch failed a sobriety test... and had an alcohol level of 0.15. That's nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.

Veatch is in his first year as West High's Activities Director.

A school district official says he volunteered his resignation, and will step down from that job on June 30th.
