SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Jobs, education, and health are some of the big issues facing most states, including Iowa.
Business, county, and city leaders heard how the state plans to reach its goals in those three areas. They gathered Friday morning for the Siouxland Initiative breakfast.
Debi Durham, the director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, was the featured speaker. She says the state is on track to meet those goals, despite the slow economy.
"Are we making good traction? Are we moving ahead? And more importantly are we creating an economic model that is actually sustainable regardless and I think the answer is 'yes' to that," says Durham.
Durham says the workforce, weather, the federal government, and taxes are holding the state back from growing economically.
