SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Site Selection magazine picked Siouxland Metro as tops in the nation for economic development in a metro area with a population less than 200,000.
The national recognition comes from the number of business expansions last year.
That includes the $1.7 billion expansion at CF Industries, along with those at Sabre, Tyson, and Gerkin Windows.
"It's a really good indicator of economic development success. It means at the state, regional, and local level these communities are doing what it takes to convince business owners to invest into capitol projects into this community," says Ron Starner, with Site Selection Magazine.
Those working to grow our local economy say the award shows that people have a lot of confidence in Siouxland when it comes to business.
"When they realize that our economy is growing and that creates new jobs which supports the tax base and every aspect of our community. if the community is strong, the community's economy is strong and that's really the focus of today," says Chris McGowan with the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.
This is the third time out of the past 6 years that the Siouxland Metro ranked first on the list.
