In the wake of tragedy, the Sioux Falls Christian girls basketball team banded together, earning a spot in the South Dakota State Basketball Tournament.
Their teammate, Alyssa Vollmer, her parents and brother we killed in a one car accident on February 23.
The only surviving sibling, Brittany, who was not involved in the crash, attends Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
The Charger community, honored the Vollmer family Saturday night with bright green t-shirts displaying both Alyssa's basketball number and her brother Caleb's football number.
The shirts read "We Will Always Remember the Vollmer Family."
Sioux Falls Christian defeated Madison 62-32 to win the South Dakota Region 3A Championship to advance to state.
"Coming into the year one of our big goals as a team was to make it to the state tournament and it was one of Alyssa's big goals," Sioux Falls Christian Senior Hayley McCarron said. "It's what she really wanted and I think, it means a lot to do it for her, but at the same time we know it won't be the same without her."
A fund has been set up to support Brittany.
