Parts of Siouxland are dealing with winter road conditions Monday morning. Freezing rain overnight has left some roads in the northern part of Iowa slick. A look at the Iowa Department of Transportation's website shows that Siouxland escaped the brunt of this system. Farther to the east, roads are completely covered in snow and ice.
Siouxlanders turn out to help a family hit by tragedy. In Dakota City, Nebraska Sunday, church members and other volunteers put on a pancake benefit at the fire hall to help 8-year-old Braden Coenen and his family. In January, Braden was injured in a car crash near Dakota City that killed his grandmother and his 3-year-old sister, Regan. Organizers of Sunday's pancake feed didn't know the victims personally, but wanted to show their support to the family. Braden has a lot of recovery ahead of him. His family says they're grateful for the support.
A welcome home ceremony for 160 members of Sioux City's 185th Air Refueling Wing who have served overseas in the past year. Members are often deployed in small groups and do not receive the traditional "welcome home" ceremony, so the National Guard unit put on this event Sunday as a way to recognize their service and say welcome home.
