Collins pleased with community's support

EVANSDALE (KWWL) -

On Wednesday the radio station, Rock 108 announced 'A Concert for the Angels' featuring the band Saving Abel and other music groups.

All the money raised from the concert will go towards the 'Angels Park' project.

Heather Collins said it was Sarah Werkmeister who approached her about the concert. Werkmeister wanted to do something big to honor the girls.

Collins said she is very pleased with all the support and knows the girls are smiling down on them.

Heather said her family is still trying to get by, day by day.

Investigators do stay in contact with them, but it is very little. In fact, Collins says she would rather have it that way so it won't jeopardize the case.

However, she says they have their good days and bad days. But the calm in the case is not setting well with her husband, Drew. He wants to know who the killer is soon.

"Him just finding out who did this I think that will be a huge relief on him because he just constantly worries all the time of who did it. Is it somebody that you know? Is it somebody that Misty and Dan know? Is it somebody in our community. That's a huge, huge burden on him," said Collins.

As for Heather, she said knowing who murdered her daughter and niece won't change the past.

"It's not going to make a difference to me personally who did it or not because to me I still do not have my little smiling Elizabeth here. I still do not have my funny little dancing Lyric here. So, it doesn't matter to me who it is," said Collins.

Construction at 'Angels Park' has already begun. They are planning to make a pedestrian walkway that will connect the park at Meyers Lake to the wooded island in the middle of the lake.

A 'Concert for the Angels' featuring the band Saving Abel and other music groups is April 20th at McElroy Auditorium in Waterloo.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

You can purchase tickets at any area Hy-Vee stores and at McElroy Auditorium box office.
