SIOUX CITY, IA (KTIV) - Opera Iowa traveled to Morningside College in Sioux City Thursday to perform their rendition of "Three Little Pigs" for a group of Siouxland third graders.
Students were brought in to not just watch the art of opera, but also participate in the making of the opera.
The children joined in on workshops that involved set design, lighting and one of the most important things to opera singing.
The third graders learned a song specifically to perform in Thursdays show.
"By the time we get to performance there are hundreds of kids in the audience and they're all singing a rousing chorus while they build their houses, so yeah they get to sing along" said Brad Baron
Baron says it gets the children really excited about the opera because they get so involved in performance.
Opera Iowa is part of the Des Moines Metro Opera, and has been traveling around for 27 years.
