SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (KTIV/KUOO) -
It's full speed ahead for a new city hall to be built in Spirit Lake, Iowa. That's after voters approved bond money for the project.
Mayor Blain Andera says city officials are pleased to be able to see the long awaited project come to fruition. "Right away we're going to get with the architects and start going through and finalizing what the building will look like, where the rooms will be, the offices, restrooms, stuff like that. Then from there we'll move into the demolition and construction phase."
Plans call for city offices to be temporarily located in the Spirit Lake School's former Administrative Building while construction is underway, as the city hall will be built on the same site as the existing one.
Mayor Andera says if things go accordingly, demolition of the current city hall could get underway this coming fall, with construction of the new facility immediately following that.
