LARCHWOOD, Iowa (KTIV) -
Revenue from the Grand Falls Casino Resort, near Larchwood, Iowa, will equate to more than half a million in grants this year.
The $610,000 will be awarded through the casino's nonprofit partner, the Lyon County Riverboat Foundation.
In the almost two years Grand Falls has been open, managers say they've had a "terrific" revenue stream.
To date, the casino has turned about $3 million to their nonprofit.
"They have a great formula. Twenty-five percent goes to the town and the county of Lyon County. Another 25% goes to the three school districts. Then, a portion of that is allocated for the private schools," said Grand Falls General Manager Sharon Haselhoff.
The next deadline for the Lyon County Riverboat Foundation grant program is September 10th.
