SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Another piece to the puzzle of attracting industry to Sioux City's Southbridge business park is complete.
The city council has awarded a contract to finish the design of a new rail yard where the "27 Flags" golf course used to sit.
Officials say they've been waiting to secure enough funds for the seven-million dollar project. So far, they have five-million dollars in state and federal grant money.
"We think it's important and site selectors have indicated to us it's important that a major industrial park have the ability to have rail service," said Marty Dougherty.
The city is still waiting to learn the fate of other grant funding for the rest of the project, which is up in the air right now, because of the uncertainty in Washington.
