LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) -
A group of Siouxland residents got some face time with a few of their state lawmakers, and even the governor, Tuesday.
Norfolk, Nebraska, state senator Jim Scheer hosted the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce and other guests for the annual Madison County Day at the Capitol.
The Chamber's legislative council sets aside a day every year for members of the public to head down to Lincoln, attend the legislature's session, have lunch with state senators and agency directors, and get some time to interact with Governor Dave Heineman.
Attendees say Sen. Scheer also set up opportunities for sessions with current state Speaker Greg Adams, and Sen. Galen Hadley, who has been among the most vocal proponents for reforming Nebraska's tax code.
Attendees told me that Gov. Heineman renewed his call for Nebraska to change its tax climate. His since-shelved tax bills from earlier in the session were strongly opposed by the Norfolk Chamber.
