SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -- -
The state championship boys basketball team from South Sioux City was honored with a welcome home celebration late Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinals won the Nebraska Class B title on Saturday night, beating top-seeded Scottsbluff, 55 to 53.
South Sioux trailed by double digits in all three of their state tournament games but overcame the odds to win it all.
Terry Comstock says, "It feels great. The work and effort that these guys put in to this championship is bar none. They really deserve this. This was a great team effort and this feels great to know, that after all the hard work they put into it they get something out of it.
South Sioux also won boys titles in 2010 and 2011. The Cardinals will likely move from Class B up to Class A next season.
