Northern Iowa Senior Jacqui Kalin has been named the 2013 Jackie Stiles Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.

Kalin was also awarded the honor in 2011, becoming the fourth player in MVC history to win the award at least twice in their career. This is the second time in her career to win both the MVC Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the same season, making MVC history as the first to accomplish the distinction.

Kalin is now the all-time leading scorer at UNI with 2,002 career points and the all-time leader in three-pointers made with 252.

Kalin was also named to the MVC All-Conference first team for the third time in her career, marking the 13th year that the Panthers have had at least one player earning first team recognition. Kalin joins former Panthers Allison Starr, Amy Swisher and Alex Cook who all were selected three times in their career.

"Jacqui defines character," head coach Tanya Warren said. "She is everything we want our program to continue to be. She is what excellence is."
Kalin has had a decorated career at UNI on and off the court. The sixth year senior is currently defending her thesis in Kinesiology and Sports Psychology while holding a 4.0 GPA.

Kalin is a two time CoSIDA Academic All-American selection, earning first team recognition this season and second team honors in 2011. The senior also is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. Kalin became the first player in UNI women's basketball history to earn first team Academic All-America distinction.
During the 2010-11 season, Kalin earned her first MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year and MVC Player of the Year awards after leading the Panthers to their second consecutive tournament championship.
During her first season at UNI, Kalin averaged 13.3 points per game as a true freshman, earning MVC Freshman of the Year. She was named MVC Newcomer of the Week twice during the season and was given second team All-Conference honors.

Kalin has also been named to the Jewish Sports Review Women's College Basketball All-American team three times in her career. She was chosen as one of 12 athletes to represent the United State this summer at the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Kalin is an active member and the MVC representative for the NCAA Division I National Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She is also an active member of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Issues Committee.

Kalin was the UNI Co-President of the SAAC from the spring of 2010 to the spring of 2012 and is a member of the UNI Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Council and the NCAA Recertification Steering Committee. She was also given the MVC/State Farm Good Neighbor Award in the winter of 2010 and 2011.

Kalin and the Panthers will return to action March 15 when they face-off against Indiana State at 2:35 p.m. inside the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. for the MVC Tournament.
