2 die in collision in front of Lyon County casino

NEAR LARCHWOOD, Iowa (KTIV) -

Two Sioux Falls residents have died in the collision of a sport utility vehicle and a semi in Lyon County, Iowa.  It happened about 5:30 Thursday evening on Highway 9 in front of the Grand Falls Casino near Larchwood.

Sheriff's officials say Charles Rice was driving the GMC Yukon and attempted to turn into the casino in front of the oncoming semi.  The truck driver was unable to stop and struck the SUV.

Both vehicles ended up in the ditch.

Rice and his passenger, Kristin Loudermilk, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, Randy Gergen of Granville, Iowa, was not hurt.
